Originally formed in 2012 by the former head coach, Steve Dignam, as Celtic Mini Fencing Club. Upon Steve’s retirement in 2017, the other coaches, both fully qualified and experienced coaches, took over and gave the club a new name to reflect the “teaching” aspect and the high level of coaching offered at Celtic.

We are the ONLY club in Wales catering entirely for young people aged about 7 to 14. We use both PLASTIC and METAL swords in DIFFERENT classes. Metal swords for most of our classes BUT PLASTIC SWORDS for the YOUNGER children in FUN, GAMES BASED classes! We take EVEN younger children at our BAGLAN classes please enquire!

We teach children using the latest lightweight swords and masks.

We also use the special plastic weapons which can use the electronic scoring systems used for “metal” swords. We use a plastic mask and a protective over jacket. This lightweight equipment allows children to fence in complete safety but to develop the skills and manual dexterity required to progress to metal swords as the next stage in our INTERMEDIATE classes or the senior fencing club.

We hold regular club and inter school matches and competitions as well as encourage the children to enter theNational fencing competitions taking place throughout the country.

We now have over 50 children fencing in our INTERMEDIATE classes using metal swords and for the last 3 years we have had over 10 of these represent Wales at the British Youth Championships, held each year in Sheffield.

The club is run by experienced fencing coaches, who is British Fencing Association qualified and holds a current CRB certificate and is also specialy trained in the teaching of GoFence fencing.
